Boat Overview

The Degerö 850 MS is a polyester motorsailer from 1995, designed and built by the Finnish shipyard Degerö. This model combines the features of a motor yacht and a sailing yacht, providing versatility on inland waters, lakes, and coastal areas. With a length of 8.50 meters, a width of 3.00 meters, and a draft of 1.10 meters, this vessel offers a stable and comfortable ride.

Hull and Construction

The S-shaped hull provides a good balance between stability and maneuverability. The vessel has an air draft of 12 meters and an interior headroom of 2 meters, offering ample space for taller passengers. The tiller steering is located in the outside cockpit, and the single rudder contributes to direct steering.

Accommodation and Interior

Inside, the Degerö 850 MS features 4 fixed berths and an additional sleeping option. The mattresses and cushions were renewed in 2023. The galley is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, and oven. There is a freshwater tank with a capacity of 110 liters and a wastewater tank of the same capacity.

The interior requires some attention, but all materials are available for further finishing according to personal preference.

Sailing Characteristics and Deck Equipment

The Degerö 850 MS has one aluminum mast and is equipped with two sails: a genoa and a mainsail. The rigging includes a genoa reefing system and a Plastimo furling mainsail, allowing for easy sail handling from the cockpit. Thanks to the long keel construction, this vessel is suitable for longer voyages and offers a stable sailing experience, making it ideal for trips on both lakes and the Wadden Sea.

Engine and Technology

The Volvo Penta 2003 inboard diesel engine with 23 hp and three cylinders delivers performance. The fuel tank has a capacity of 110 liters. Onboard, there are various instruments, including a fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer.

For electrical provisions, the vessel is equipped with two batteries with a total capacity of 200 Ah, a battery charger, an alternator, and an inverter. Additionally, there are facilities for shore power and a solar panel. The onboard voltage is 12V.

Navigation

The navigation equipment onboard includes an autopilot, depth meter, GPS, chart plotter, compass, log/speedometer, and a VHF radio. The boat also features an electrically operated bilge pump and a self-draining cockpit.

Equipment and Extras

The exterior equipment includes a bimini, crane (hoist), cockpit table, pulpit and pushpit seats, a swim ladder, fenders, and lines. The anchor is secured with a combination of chain and line.

Two years ago, the rigging was renewed, and recently new mattresses and cushions were added.

Usage and Suitability

The Degerö 850 MS has been used by the current owner for leisure sailing and vacations. Thanks to its wide cruising range and comfortable sailing characteristics, this vessel is suitable for both short trips and longer journeys.
