Van De Stadt 44 Centre Cockpit

The Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust center cockpit is a spacious and seaworthy sailboat featuring a robust steel hard-chine hull. It measures 13.50 meters in length, 4.00 meters in width, and has a draft of 2.15 meters. The air draft is 18.50 meters, and the interior headroom is 2.05 meters, making this vessel suitable for various sailing areas, from inland waters to the open sea.

The Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust offers four fixed berths and five additional berths, making it ideal for family use and longer trips with crew. In 2024, a new 60-liter boiler and water pump were installed, providing hot water and a comfortable shower space in the forward bathroom. The boat also features a second bathroom in the aft cabin, equipped with an electric toilet and sink.

The galley is practically arranged and includes a sink with a kitchen faucet, a 2-burner Dickinson diesel stove, and ample storage space. The salon has a dining area, and a heating system is present for pleasant temperatures during colder periods.

The boat is equipped with an aluminum mast, four sails (mainsail and genoa), and a foresail roller system. A spinnaker and storm jib are also available. The condition of the sails is reasonable, but the rigging needs to be checked. For anchoring, the vessel includes an electric windlass and an anchor with chain attachment. The navigation equipment consists of a wind meter, depth meter, speedometer, compass, autopilot, and log/speedometer. Some systems require checking, but the autopilot functions mostly well, with occasional malfunctions.

This Van de Stadt 44 Zeelust is powered by a Mercedes OM352 inboard diesel engine with 120 hp, featuring six cylinders and 4046 running hours. The boat has a cruising speed of 13 km/h and a maximum speed of 15 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of 800 liters, providing a wide range for longer journeys.

The engine is operational, but there are exhaust leaks into the engine room that require attention. Additionally, some seacocks are not operational.

The boat is equipped with a large sprayhood, a high guardrail, and a self-draining cockpit for extra protection in rough waters. A liferaft is available, although it is not certified. The vessel also features pulpit and pushpit seats, fenders, lines, davits, a cockpit table, and a swim ladder.

The boat was taken out of the water in 2024 and received a new antifouling treatment. The hull needs repainting, and there are maintenance points such as the rigging and seacocks. The aft port bollard is present but not yet installed.

The current owner purchased the boat in December 2023 for living aboard and refurbishment. It has mainly been used on inland waters, lakes, and seas. The owner is now looking for a smaller vessel.
